Narrative Idea 2

Genre: Social Realism
Synopsis: Tim is a veteran soldier. After returning from war his first intention is to be welcomed by his sister. So he can kill her.
2 years earlier Tim was deployed to Afghanistan. His first year of war sees him struggle with the day to day life of being a soldier. He befriends an experienced american soldier, Alex, who helps him come to terms with the idea of killing. Tim flourishes into the brave, intelligent, well-esteemed soldier he has always wanted to be. However, a turn of events, involving the death of Alex, leaves Tim cold and desperate to seek revenge. His mind-set changes into a military machine, and doesn't let anything get in his way. That is, everything, except the thought of home. The distraction of home and the weakness of family causes Tim to fall into the trap of craziness, as his determination to kill gets the better of him. He gets sent home after not following orders due to his craziness and he returns home to destroy the one thing that stops him being the machine-like monster he has become. His family.
Opening idea: Tim walks down a road surrounded by a forest stealthily, to create the idea that he is on a mission. The camera pans up from his boots to the back of his head. The camera arcs around so we see his face. As he continues to walk down the road, there are cut scenes of a girl moving about her house and close ups of their environments, including a photo of two siblings. Tim can be seen running through a forest, until he reaches a house. As the girl inside moves away from the window carrying washing, we see Tim stalking up the garden. Quietly he enters the house and moves to where the photo is. He picks it up, looks at his reflection, and then places the photo face down. The girl re-enters and she appears happy to see Tim. However it quickly fades to horror and fear. Tim lifts his arm and then the screen goes black with a bang resounding. It cuts to an extreme close up of the girl's eyes, which flutter slightly. The screen fades back to black and the title appears (Title is undecided)
Thoughts: We found this idea to be exciting and filled with suspense, whilst being different to typical horror. We already have possible actors and locations listed down that will be readily available. We also are incredibly passionate about this narrative idea. However, we need to explore more into the depths of social realism, as it is an area of film that we are not as sure about.
